VS Code users lack comfortable, consistent editor shortcuts

In the cited VS Code requests, developers want mouse and keyboard interactions that suit their operating systems and hands, and a simple way to show or hide inlay hints when needed. Some avoid a mouse gesture, while others find holding a shortcut uncomfortable or want a one-shot toggle for teaching and screenshots. These are historical requests, so whether they remain unresolved today needs checking.

For VS Code developers. Mentioned from Apr 2016 to Jan 2023 on GitHub.

  1. I've tried this feature for 15 minutes, and my hand already hurts. Ctrl-Alt is an ok combination to press once, but for holding it's terrible. The losing focus issue also doesn't increase happiness
  2. I'm just completely avoiding using alt+click to add cursors until I can customize to make Windows and Linux consistent. Don't want to build muscle memory when it's going to change later
