Teams get noisy alerts from dependent services and lower environments

Infrastructure operators may receive a separate alert for every service behind a failed host, proxy, or internet connection, obscuring the upstream cause. Software teams also want to keep lower-environment events without treating them as urgent alerts, but one reported workaround required custom code. A lightweight alert-routing layer could address both cases with rules based on service dependencies and environment.

For infrastructure operators and software engineering teams. Mentioned from Nov 2019 to Jul 2024 on GitHub.

  1. It's not ideal to be alerted about every single item that has gone down behind say a reverse proxy or an internet connection, you just want to know that its the reverse proxy or internet connection itself that has gone down
  2. anybody using UK over a single host, would like to get a single notification (instead of one for each service) every time you restart the host or in case you have a massive collapse of your server
