Developers and other keyboard-heavy users want shortcuts that fit their preferred operating systems, keyboard layouts, apps, and workflows. Today they often have to configure each environment separately, and some tools cannot express mappings they need, such as right-side modifiers or app-specific profiles. A portable configuration layer could help, but reliably applying mappings across operating systems and apps is technically difficult.

If I'd use AHK for this, I'd have to simulate multiple keypress shortcuts like ctrl+x,y, which would definitely cause issues, glitches, etc (experience from using ahk on daily basis). And even if this was a pratical and comfortable workaround, what about other systems?
One of the reasons why I hate using Windows at work, is that I can't get it to have a fully mac-like keyboard. I'm pretty close, but it insists on having the right alt as AltGr, which is a PITA, especially since it can't be moved
