Musicians struggle to identify what they hear in a song
Musicians and listeners want quick answers about music they hear: the notes in a guitar solo, a song’s key, or the identity of a riff they can only hum. General assistants and search tools have not answered some of these requests, while working out notes from audio can mean doing the analysis by ear. Hummed-song search is a related need, but matching against a broad music catalog would be a much harder product to deliver reliably.
For musicians and music learners. Mentioned from Nov 2025 to Sep 2026 on Bluesky and Hacker News.

Is there a way to find out what notes are being played in a guitar solo, on an audio track? Is there an app that can work that out? Does anyone know, please?
is there an app where i can just badly mumble a riff into it and it'll search all recorded music history to tell me if i'm a musical genius whos just come up with an absolute belter, or i've stolen it from something i heard in passing at a party 2 decades ago
