Helm and Kubernetes YAML is hard to validate and test reliably
Helm chart authors struggle to get useful editor validation and autocomplete because Helm template expressions confuse YAML tools. Chart maintainers also lack test coverage visibility and find reusable library templates awkward to test; Argo CD users report gaps in the schemas used to validate their resources. Current workarounds include external language tooling and fake dependent charts, leaving room for focused tools that improve chart validation or testing.
For helm chart maintainers and Kubernetes platform engineers. Mentioned from Jan 2020 to Aug 2026 on GitHub.

In this thread the workarounds that stuck are external: helm-ls, tree-sitter-go-template, vim-helm. They work, but only for editors where you can reroute the filetype, and helm-ls still shells back into yaml-language-server for the YAML half
Test coverage would be an excellent addition to this library. Automatically ensuring that we test all parts of our Helm charts and having a threshold for contributions would be a great value add
