Clothing shoppers struggle to find items that fit their style and budget

Online and resale clothing shoppers have trouble finding pieces that suit their style, fit, and budget—and judging color, quality, and fit before buying. Useful choices are spread across stores and listings, while shoppers describe relying on in-person inspection, manual brand research, or patient browsing. A focused discovery tool could help, but it cannot reliably guarantee how a garment will look or feel in person.

For online and secondhand clothing shoppers seeking personalized guidance. Mentioned from Dec 2023 to May 2026 on Bluesky and Hacker News.

  1. so often i’m disappointed, over and over again when i order online vs buying from a store. whether it’s the quality is terrible, the color is just wrong, or the fit is weird, buying online is an awful experience and seems to be getting worse
  2. I wish there was a polished stylist service that didn’t also have me buying clothes from them. I don’t need a $60 white T shirt or a $120 basic jean jacket but I do want to have styles that look good specially for me
