Budget-conscious creators struggle to find simple video editors
People making simple edits or tutorial videos want software that is affordable and often prefer a one-time purchase over a subscription. For some, a web app is also a dealbreaker, while a full-featured editor can feel intimidating. The signals show people searching for alternatives, but do not establish how many would pay for a new editor.
For budget-conscious video creators and casual PC editors. Mentioned from May 2024 to Feb 2026 on Bluesky.

so what do you use for simple video edits on PC? am trying to disconnect from clipchamp and my old copy of windows movie maker and da vinci's kind of intimidating - simple trimming and clipping - maybe being able to strip or replace audio - no web apps - ideally free or cheap, no subscription
What do you use for video editing? I know it's rare but my ideal is a single purchase, not a subscription (staring at you premiere pro)
