Athletes patch together workout logs across incompatible apps

People tracking multiple sports, strength programs, or other activities end up with records split across apps, spreadsheets, and incompatible formats. Moving history can require a custom script or manual schema cleanup, while spreadsheets are awkward to use across devices. Requests for ways to log activities like yardwork and physiotherapy also suggest that rigid tracking categories can leave some effort or routines out.

For multi-sport athletes and self-directed fitness trackers. Mentioned from Feb 2024 to May 2026 on Bluesky and Hacker News.

  1. Since there isn't an open standard for weightlifting logs (lol; can you imagine), all of these have different data schemas that you need to normalize yourself. Gigantic pain in the ass

  2. Would love to host this myself and get rid of my Strava subscription. I wrote a Python script that iterates through all of my activities there and downloads the `.gpx` for each - I could share the code if interested!
